Mr. Harold L. Johnson, 76, of Kings Drive, Taylorsville, passed away on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Mr. Johnson was born December 19, 1941 in Hamilton, AL the son of the late Porter Stephen “Slim” Johnson and Lillie Mae Gann Johnson. He had worked as a supervisor in the furniture industry and retired after 21 years at CTH Sherrill Furniture in Hickory.

He loved to garden and work with wood. He enjoyed racing and watching football especially the Washington Redskins. He had a soft heart for kids and enjoyed playing the guitar.

Including his parents, he was preceded in death by: his first wife, Lavace Johnson; two sons, Lavon Lynn “Putt Putt” Johnson and Harold Eugene Johnson; a grandchild, DeAnnea Rainwater; five brothers and two sisters. Those left to cherish his memory include: his wife, Marie Blaylock Johnson of the home; a daughter, Sheila Johnson Ross and husband, Rick, of Maiden; a son, Christopher N. Johnson and wife, Wanda, of Granite Falls; step-daughter, Tekishia Blaylock of Icard; a step-son, Derl Stevens and wife, Alicia, of Lenoir; grandchildren, Michael McCarley, Katharine Ross, Angela Johnson, Aaron Johnson; step-grandchildren, Bailey Stevens, Madison Smith, Emma Smith, Kembar Stevens and Alexus Stevens; great-grandchildren, Randol Jones, Michael Ross, Josalene Rainwater and Lavon Pope. The funeral service will be held at Noon, Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Adams Funeral Home Chapel.

Speaker Eddie Sigmon will officiate. Burial will immediately follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Hickory. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
