Mr. Earl Wayne Sweet, 72, of Little Rock Road, Taylorsville, passed away on Monday, November 26, 2018 at Gateway Rehabilitation in Lenoir. Mr. Sweet was born May 15, 1946 in Alexander County, the son of the late William Lloyd Sweet and Minnie Starnes Sweet. He was a painter by trade and a faithful member of Millersville Baptist Church, as long as his health allowed.

He was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed watching car racing and westerns on TV. Including his parents, he was preceded in death by: a daughter, April Leigh Sweet. Those family members left to cherish and honor his memory include: his wife, who he married on June 20, 1997, Judy Deal Sweet; four sons, William Sweet (Cathy), of Lenoir, Terrell Sweet (Kelly), of Lincolnton, Thomas Sweet (Wanda), Shaun Sweet (Carlene), all of Lenoir; a step-son, Scott Ballard (Crystal) of Taylorsville; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three brothers, Burley Sweet and James Sweet (Lois) both of Taylorsville, Charles Sweet (Annie) of Conover.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 4 p.m., Friday, November 30, 2018 at Millersville Baptist Church. Pastor’s Bill Orren and Brian Kerley will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
