Ms. Dorothy “Dot” Jean Cavin, 80, of Hickory, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2018 at Trinity Village of Hickory. Ms. Cavin was born April 11, 1938 in Wilkes County, the daughter of the late Roosevelt Pearson and Madge Russell Pearson. Dot was a member of Sandy Ridge Baptist Church.

She had a strong love for Jesus and her family. She had a special love for children and people. Dot was an energized, caring person and always wishing to make others happy.

Dot enjoyed working in her flowers and gardening. She loved spending time at the beach with her family. She also enjoys listening to music and dancing.

She retired from the furniture industry and was also a beautician. Including her parents, she was preceded in death by: sisters, Ella Mae Robinson, Ruth Arms, and Alice Pearson; brothers, Zeno Pearson and Orville Pearson. Those family members left to cherish and honor her memory include: the father of her daughter, Terry Cavin of Taylorsville; a daughter, Melanie Walker and husband, Rodney, of Taylorsville; sisters, Mabel Wray of Taylorsville, Jane Houston of Hickory; brothers, Raleigh Pearson of Taylorsville, Coy Pearson of Taylorsville; granddaughters, Misty Phinney and Chelsey Wright; a grandson, Jansen Hefner; and great-grandchildren, Carter, Mattix, Callie, Samuel, and Makinley; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4 p.m., Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at the Adams Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Lynn Houston will officiate. The family will receive friends from 3 p.m.-4 p.m., prior to the service at Adams Funeral Home.
