Diane Taylor of Pasadena passed away on May 18, 2019 at the age of 64. Diane is survived by her sister Cecelia Hahn (Jerry) and brother Frank Taylor (Amy); nieces Meghan Hahn, Brittany Taylor, Jenny Taylor, and nephew Aaron Taylor; dearest friend Susan Dorsey (Jimmy) and Susan’s children Kacey (Chris) and Christopher. She was born August 7, 1954 in Baltimore to parents Frank and Dolores Taylor.

She graduated from UMBC in 1976 and went on to earn a Master of Business Administration from the University of Baltimore in 1992. Diane retired on April 1, 2006 as assistant comptroller, from the University of Maryland College Park after 29 years of dedicated service. Diane will be remembered for her sassy story-telling, quick wit, and biting sense of humor.

She enjoyed traveling, musical theatre, and anything related to the piano. We will always remember her talent for organizing the best parties and finding the best online shopping deals. She lived her life as if she was the heroine in a Barbra Streisand film, and took pride in her independence above all things.

Diane subtly stood up for equality of women in the workplace before it was even trendy, and she remained extremely proud of her career throughout her life. Even in retirement, she found ways to work hard and stay busy. Broken feet and joint disease be damned.

Despite our heartbreak, we are forever grateful for the generosity of Diane’s best friend Susan, who gifted us an additional 11 wonderful years with her, by graciously donating her kidney. Diane demonstrated fierce, generous, and understated love for everyone she cared about. She will be lovingly remembered by all as our Auntie Di.

Please join us for a celebration of life luncheon, which will be held for family and friends at The Olive Grove Restaurant, 705 Hammonds Ferry Road, Linthicum, MD 21090 on Saturday, May 25 from 11am to 2pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Highway Pasadena, MD 21122. Diane’s family would like to extend thanks to the Hospice of the Chesapeake staff for their compassion, flexibility, and excellent care.

Diane relished in the idea of “going out on her own terms,” and did so with peace and comfort.
