Dolena Gillikin Bell, 91, of Beaufort, died peacefully on Thursday, November 14, 2018, at Snug Harbor on Nelson Bay. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2018, at Carteret Memorial Gardens, officiate by Pastor Taylor Mills. The family will receive friends and family immediately after the service.

Dolena retired from civil service at Cherry Point where she worked 22 ½ years. She was an active member at Ann Street United Methodist Church and enjoyed being a part of the United Methodist Women’s Group. Dolena enjoyed being involved in the community and participated in several organizations that include the NARF, Mariam Rebekah Lodge #141 in Beaufort, Order of Eastern Star of Beaufort, Beaufort Women’s Club, Beaufort Historical Society, Friends of the Library, Friends of Fort Macon and the NC Maritime Museum in Beaufort.

She is survived by her daughter, Edith Styron and husband, Jeff, of Beaufort; son, Lee Crumbacker and wife, Kathie, of Beaufort; grandchildren, Farrah Brooks and husband, Chris, of Clayton, Lindsay Allen and husband, Lee, of Bettie, Amber Willis and husband, Patrick, of Morehead City; great-grandchildren, Krista, Ethan and Emily Brooks, TJ and Trevor Allen, Ian and Evan Willis, Liz Machado Mello; and great-great-granddaughter, Carmen Machado Mello Crumbacker of New York. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry Linwood Gillikin and Blanche Salter Gillikin; husband of 54 years, Charles Bell; sister, Edith Pigott; brothers, Carvie, MacDonald and Harry Gillikin; grandson, Buddy Crumbacker; great-grandson, Donovan Crumbacker; and great-granddaughter, Leslie Brooks. The family would like to thank her caregivers, Louise Dixon, Sandra Lewis and Patsy Dudley for all the love and care they showed her during her declining years.

We would also like to thank everyone at Snug Harbor for the care they gave her the last 4 months.
