Berman “Perry” Salter, 69, of Broad Creek, passed away Friday, December 28, 2018, at Carteret Health Care. His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2018, at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. John Thompson.

Perry enjoyed the simple things in life, shooting pool, hunting and being outdoors. He followed in his father’s footsteps by working his lifetime as a brick mason and carpenter. Perry was a jokester that showed his affection by picking and playing pranks.

He loved to laugh, and he loved his friends and family. Perry will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his son, Eugene Salter and his fiancé Mandy Swindell of Newport; sister, Connie Lewis and husband Frederick of Charleston, SC; brother, James “JW” Wilbur Salter, Jr. and wife Barbara of Beaufort; grandson, Chase Salter; and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of over 40 years, Karen Salter, and he never missed a day visiting her at the Cemetery; parents, James and Oleda Salter; sister, Judy Salter McNamara; brother, Rocky Dale Salter; and son, Jimmy Salter. Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2018, at Munden Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Associate at 2451 Crystal Drive, Suite 900, Arlington, VA 22202.
