A procession will form Saturday 9:00 am at the funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Joseph’s Church at 10:00 am.

Burial in Saint Mary’s Cemetery will follow. DOLORES A. “LAURIE” THURIN, 82, died at home on Emerson Street in Kingston, New York on Thursday, December 20, 2018 while in the loving care of her family and Hospice. Laurie was born in Kingston, New York on February 8, 1936 to Joseph N. Bruck and Marie (Reis) Bruck.

She graduated from St. Ursula Academy where she played on the varsity basketball team. Laurie married the love of her life, Joseph Thurin, on April 18, 1959. Together they raised four children.

As a devoted wife, Laurie joined Joe in his commitment to organizations such as the Kingston Boys and Girls Club and the Kingston Lions Club. Laurie was also involved in committees and events at St. Joseph’s School, Coleman High School, the Girl Scouts, and Kingston Metropolitan Knothole League. Laurie spent time substitute teaching and later worked at Kingston Wholesale Grocery.

She went on to work at Mid-Hudson Valley Credit Union until her retirement. After retirement, Laurie enjoyed her summers with Joe at their little log cabin in Boothbay, Maine (Her Happy Place). There they welcomed family and friends and spent much of their time sitting on the porch overlooking the lake.

When in Kingston, Laurie and Joe traveled to their grandson’s baseball and basketball games or visited their children and grandchildren. Family and friends meant everything to Laurie, and she devoted her life to them. Laurie is predeceased by her parents, her husband, and siblings Mary Booth and Elizabeth Bentley.

Laurie has one surviving brother Joseph G. Bruck, brother in-law Louis Tierney, and sister in-law Patricia Thurin and many loving nieces and nephews. Laurie is survived by her children and their spouses Ann (Douglas) Jimenez, Joanne (James P) Rinella, Michael J (Lisa) Thurin, and Teri Thurin. Laurie’s pride and joy were her five grandchildren; Mora (Brian) Pluchino, James N. (Ashton) Rinella, Mark Rinella, Marisa Thurin, Michael H. Thurin, and her great granddaughter, Nina Cate Pluchino.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hudson Valley Hospice at 400 Aaron Ct. Kingston, NY 12401.
