Dolores Ivy Knie March 01, 1919 – January 08, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Spartanburg, SC- Dolores Ivy Knie, 99, passed away on Tuesday, January 8th, 2019, and has departed this world to meet to meet her Lord and Savior. Dolores Ivy Gissenas Knie (Dee) was born in Pound, Wisconsin on March 1 , 1919, to Augusta C. and Lloyd H. Gissenas. She is predeceased by her parents and sister, June Gissenas LeHoven.

She was married to Walter Maxwell Knie on May 26th, 1943, and they shared an adventure and fabulous marriage for sixty years. They married as he enlisted in World War II, and their newlywed years were the period that he was stationed in the Pacific. He then served in the military in the capacity of an intelligence officer where they were stationed in Europe, both in Germany and France, and also the United States.

They were stationed in Berlin when the wall was erected. Dee was an avid and devout Christian. A highlight to her time in Germany was her attendance at a Billy Graham Crusade in 1960, after which she devoted her life to the ministry to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

She was actively involved in various ministries both overseas and in the United States. She and Walter shared a love for South Carolina, and after thirty-five years of military service, they retired to North Augusta, SC. They jointly commenced a polygraph business which was a success in the corporate industry for over twenty years.

Shortly after the death of her beloved husband in 2003, she relocated to Campobello, SC on the property of her son and daughter-in-law where she continued her love of baking, sewing, vegetable and flower gardening, and the spoiling of all animals. She also continued witnessing to others as to her faith and her love of Jesus Christ. She is survived by her son Patrick E. Knie (Grace) of Campobello, SC; grandchildren, Patrick H. Knie of Charlotte, NC, and Ashley Knie Replogle (Thomas) of Atlanta, GA; and two great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to dear friends, Anna Lancaster and Juanita Carson, for their kindness and generosity to Dee. A private graveside service will be held at the Pineview Memorial Gardens in North Augusta, SC. The family requests no flowers, but in remembrance of Dee, the family suggests memorials be made to North Augusta Bible Chapel, 1050 Hammond Drive, North Augusta, South Carolina 29841 or to CSRA Humane Society, 425 Wood Street, Augusta, GA 30904.
