Dolores P. Magda, 93 Poland – Dolores P. Magda, 93 of Poland, passed away Wednesday afternoon, February 6, 2019, at her home with her family by her side. Dolores was born September 21, 1925 in Aliquippa, PA, the daughter of the late Ignatius and Sarah (Shuttleworth) Crossen. She attended St. Nicholas grade school and graduated from Struthers High School in 1943 and was a lifelong area resident.

Dolores was a long distance telephone operator over 40 years, for Ohio Bell Company, which became AT & T. She was a life long member of Christ Our Savior / St. Nicholas Church, the St. Nicholas Altar Rosary Society and the AT & T Pioneers . Dolores is survived by her daughter, Doreen Ann (James, Sr.) Ponigar of Poland; three grandchildren, Jamie (James) Brotherton, Wendy (Todd) Kennedy, James (Courtney) Ponigar Jr.; four great grandchildren, Daniel Kennedy, Patrick Kennedy, Zakary Kennedy, and Ellie Brotherton; a sister-in-law, Agnes Crossen and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Dolores was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Joseph E. Magda, whom she married on October 20, 1945, died, July 12, 2006; three brothers, Richard Crossen, James Crossen, Bernard Crossen, and her sister, Marge DiCarlo.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, February 11, 2019 at 11:30 am at Christ Our Savior Church at St. Nicholas Church, 764 5th Street in Struthers with Fr. Martin Celuch officiating. Family and friends may call on Monday from 10:30 to 11:30 am at the church.

Interment will follow at St. John the Baptist Cemetery. The family would like to thank Hospice of The Valley, for the love, care and support that they gave to Dolores and her family at this time and especially her caregivers, Leslie, Janet, Denise, Kathy, Deb and Brittany. Dolores was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
