DOLORES RAMONA SAUNDERS, 82, peacefully went to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday, September 10, 2018. Born in Kiahsville, WV to Brad and Maudie Mathis, and graduated from Wayne High School in Wayne County, WV. She married George Saunders of Nellis, WV and remained married to the love of her life for 61 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George, two brothers Bill Mathis and Carroll Mathis, and son Millard Saunders. She is survived by her son Terrence D. (Terry) Saunders and his wife Ginger of Graham, NC; George E. Saunders II and his wife Tracey of Huntington, WV; two sisters (Fanny Murray and Betty Miller both of Huntington, WV), Clarence Mathis of Wayne, WV, James Mathis of Florence, SC, and Arthur Mathis of Wayne, WV; 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and over 30 nieces and nephews. Dolores was a retired seamstress and dressmaker employed at large department stores.

She also altered and created dresses for many formal events and weddings. She was the longest standing member of the Antioch Old Regular Baptist Church of Wayne, WV for 64 years. She will be remembered for her kindness, caring heart, and love of Our Lord.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with Brothers Art Mathis, Leonard Napier and Sam Frye officiating. Burial will follow at the Mathis Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
