Don’s Obituary Mr. Don W. Galle, age 62, husband of Cathy S. Galle, and a resident of Columbia, passed away Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Maury Regional Medical Center. A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 11, 2019 at 11AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Minister Jason Hargrove officiating. A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 10, 2019 from 3-7PM and again on Monday from 10-11AM at the funeral home.

Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Born on July 13, 1956 in Roseland, IL, Don was the son of Eleanor Lebica Galle and the late William F. Galle. He met Cathy at the young age of eleven, and they married on November 6, 1976, together they had three children.

He worked as an Op Tech for 34 ½ years at General Motors before retiring in 2008. Immediately upon retiring, he began working for a builder doing finishing work for custom homes. He was a workaholic who could build, make, or fix anything.

Don was excellent at woodworking and was known for his elaborate bird houses that he made for others, usually at no cost. A true outdoorsman, one of his biggest hobbies was fishing, but he also enjoyed grilling, canning, cooking, traveling, and going on cruises. He was a simple yet particular man who loved his family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his children: Maureen (Jonathon) Jaszcz of Columbia, Christine (Chance) Beam of Marietta, GA, William “Bill” (Katie) Galle of Spring Hill; grandchildren: Katelyn (Timmy) Gray, Chasity Cornwall, Addyson Cornwall, Brooke Beam, Baylor Beam, Beckham Galle, Lillian Jaszcz, Julia Jaszcz, Charlotte Galle; and great grandchildren: Braylon Gray and Tucker Gray. Honorary pallbearers will include: Bill Galle, Jim Kubiak, Johnny Franklin, Timmy Gray, Harold Haywood, Ed Chandler, Jason Riley, Mike Prehoda, Otto Zeise, and Beckham Galle.
