Don Odis Hurt, 79, of Buckhannon, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at home. He was born on July 5, 1939, in Effingham, Illinois, the only child of the late Odis and Celestia (Timmons) Hurt. Upon graduating high school and attending college, Don began his lifelong career working in the oil and gas industry.

His skills and expertise made him well known and highly regarded in his field. During his career, he traveled and worked all over the United States, Bolivia, Venezuela and Peru. Don also served seven years in the U.S. Army Reserves.

Don had many hobbies throughout his life, but fishing and golf were his passions after retiring. Don is survived by his devoted wife, June (Nicholson) Hurt, whom he married in 1963. Don is also survived by his children, Brad Hurt and Therisa Jacobi, Crossville, IL, Shannon Hurt Beafore and Ronnie, Fairmont, Odie Hurt and Susan, Montpelier, VA; and five grandchildren, Chandler Petitto, Alex Beafore, Quinton Hurt, Miranda Hurt, and Erin Coleman.

Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Dr., Clarksburg, on Friday, May 17, 2019 from 3:00pm until time of the Memorial Service at 6:00pm. Private entombment will be at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Online condolences may be sent to DavisFuneralHomeWV.com.
