Obituary for Mr. Don Spencer Mr. George Donald “Don” Spencer was born March 5, 1937, in Moore County. He passed from this life October 24, 2018. Visitation will be held 4:00-8:00 P.M. Saturday, October 27, 2018, at First United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be 3 PM Sunday, October 28, 2018, at First United Methodist Church. Reverend Lanita Monroe will officiate, with burial to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Don was the son of George N. and Flora Collins Spencer.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Hunter Spencer; children, Aurelia (Howard) Swann, of Northport, Alabama, Dulcie (Bob) Davis and George (Kim) Spencer, of Lynchburg; grandchildren, Trey Swann, Robert (Katie) Swann, Spencer Swann, Craig (Kendra) Davis, Rebecca Davis, Matt (Carleigh) Ward, and Merri Catherine (John) Oosting; great grandchildren, Felix Swann, Gage Davis, Elijah Oosting, and Samuel Ward. Don was an active member of First United Methodist Church. He was one of the engineers that developed the SR-71 engines technology.

He also worked on the Apollo 13 mission’s rescue and retired as Energy Manager at Arnold Engineering Air Force Base. Feldhaus Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Mr. Don Spencer please visit our Sympathy Store.
