Obituary for Donald A. Wood (Lebanon) Donald Aldon Wood, son of Thomas B. and Grace V. Vandiver Wood, was born August 3, 1937, in Koshkonong, Missouri. He departed this life Tuesday, November 6, 2018, in Lebanon North Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-one years, three months, and three days. On September 14, 1963, he was united in marriage to Connie Hufft, and to this union one daughter and two sons were born.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Rick Pulliam; two sisters, Agnes Agan and Lois Agan; and a niece, Jennifer Collins. Don is survived by his wife, Connie, of the home; a daughter, Susan Pulliam, of Jefferson City, Missouri; two sons, Michael Wood, and his wife, Monie, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Andrew Wood, and his wife, Debbie, of Holden, Missouri; four grandchildren, Matthew Wood, Megan Zimdars, & her husband, Devon, Ashley Leathers and Chance Leathers; a brother, Charles Lynn Wood, and his wife, Brenda, of Lebanon, Missouri; two sisters, Deloris Chapman, and her husband, Dale, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Louise Mauro, of Englewood, Colorado; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was raised in the Lebanon, Missouri area, and graduated from Lebanon High School in the Class of 1955.

While in high school he began working at Leslie Wrinkle’s grocery store and then in Rolla for a time. He then moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where he worked for Armor Meats. He soon returned to Lebanon and worked for the Lebanon Police Department for a few years.

In 1965, he began working in public service for the United States Social Security Administration and continued there for thirty-one years. Don made his profession of faith in Christ in 1951, at the First Baptist Church. He currently was a member of Second Baptist Church.

He was active in the community and had served on the school board as president at Joel E. Barber School. He was elected to the Laclede County Health Department Board. He also served as president of the Optimist Club where he was in charge of the local Babe Ruth Baseball Tournament.

In his spare time he enjoyed fishing at Bennett Spring, watching the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball games, and eating ice cream. He took pride in his gardening and always planted more than he could handle. He was fascinated by antique tractors and loved going to auctions.

He also liked listening to gospel music, particularly songs by the Chuck Wagon Gang. His family was very dear to him and he was at his happiest when he was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend.
