Donald’s Obituary Donald Alan Murphy, 68, of 610 Daniels Road, Corapeake, NC, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2019. Mr. Murphy was born in Philadelphia, PA on April 22, 1950, and was the son of the late Allen Richard and Helen Clark Murphy. A retired service advisor in the automotive service industry, he was a Catholic by faith, and was an avid pigeon racer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Gage, and by a great-granddaughter, Lacey. Surviving are his wife of 31 years, Shelly Bowman Murphy; two sons, Scott Murphy and wife, Amanda, and Matthew Bowman, all of Corapeake; two daughters, Samantha Russell of Chesapeake, VA, and Aamanda O’Connor and husband, John, of Elizabeth City; four sisters, Patricia Oplinger of Fairfax, VA, Barbara Murphy of Norfolk, VA, and Diane Paul and Pamela Williams, both of Virginia Beach, VA; two brothers, Gerald Murphy of Norfolk, and Joseph Murphy of Michigan; 10 grandchildren, Danielle, Kiersten, Jordan, Laila, Kylee, Kendall, Heleana, Loghan, Emma, and Gwendolyn. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, and will be conducted by Minister Charles Stuart.

Friends may join the family in the funeral home immediately following the service and on Wednesday afternoon at the home of Aamanda O’Connor. A private burial will be in the family cemetery at the home.
