Obituary for Donald H. “Snuffy” Hillenburg Donald H. “Snuffy” Hillenburg, age 69, of Norman, passed away at his residence on Saturday, October 20, 2018. Mr. Hillenburg attended Norman Christian Church. Don was born on March 3, 1949, at his home in Lawrence County to Elmer and Alice Marie Elkins Hillenburg, both of whom preceded him in death.

Don attended Heltonville High School. He worked at Heltonville Limestone, and Indiana Limestone. He also worked in the logging business for Tom Horton, Jerry Brock, Phillip Hillenburg, Sr., Jerry Hall, and Micky Kinser.

He loved spending time with his family and friends. He also loved being outdoors, gardening and raising vegetables for his family, friends, and neighbors, mowing his lawn, riding 4-wheelers, and mushroom hunting. In addition, he loved to take his family fishing.

On August 5, 1967, in Lawrence County, he married the love of his life, Fern Mikels, and she survives in Norman. They were married for 51 years and were the parents of three children, and raised one granddaughter, whom they claimed as a child of their own. Survivors include one son, Terry (Amy) Hillenburg of Seymour; one daughter, Cindy (Dale) Ehringer of Norman, and Ivy Sessions of Seymour; grandchildren: Lindsay (Neri) Mejia of Norman, Shane Callahan of Medora, and Chelsey Ehringer of Norman; and great-grandchildren: Cassady, Chelsea, Domonic, Bryson, Christian, Gabriella, Ezekiel, Maria, and Alyssa.

Don loved all his children and grandchildren, thought the world of every one of them, and would have done anything for any of them. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Besides his parents, Mr. Hillenburg was also preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Sue Callahan; one great-grandson, Bryson Parker; four sisters: Ruth Axsom, Audrey Hillenburg, Marilyn Stevens, and Patricia Hudoff; and one brother, Phillip “Bud” Hillenburg.

Funeral services for Donald H. “Snuffy” Hillenburg will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, October 26, 2018, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with Randy Baker officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 25, 2018, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., and from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc.
