Donald Lee Williams August 10, 1940 – December 19, 2018 Share this obituary Local Florists Send Sympathy Gifts View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Donald Lee Williams age 78 of Edmond, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2018 in Oklahoma City surrounded by his family. Don was born August 10, 1940, in Clayton, Oklahoma.
He was the youngest child born to Cam Lee Williams and Alice Alona (Ricketts) Williams. Don never knew his mom who died when he was three years old. This left Don to be raised by his dad, Cam, his brother & sister in law, Virgil & Louise and sisters, Lil and Bug.
Don grew up a country boy in Calvin and graduated from Calvin High School with the class of 1959. He married his high school sweet heart Betty Burns, and together they raised three daughters, Pam, Teresa and Cindy. After three loving daughters, Don got the son he always wanted, Cody Lee Williams was born to Don and his 2nd wife, Jayne Haley.
Don later married Renee Sneed Sasnett, who was the love of his life, they were married 25 years. He was deeply grieved after he lost her to cancer in 2006. Don’s truck driving career began with Lee Way Motor Freight where he worked until they closed the company.
He then went to work for Arkansas Freightways who eventually merged with FedEx Freight. Don worked for FedEx Freight until he retired at the age of 70. Throughout his years of trucking, Don was a member of the Teamsters Union local 886 in OKC.
Don lived most of his life in the OKC area. For the past 25 years he has lived in the Edmond community where he attended Waterloo Rd. Baptist Church.
Don was a cowboy at heart. He loved horses and the rodeo life. For years he enjoyed following his brother-in-law, Sandy Burns and son-in-law, Randy Queen during their bull riding careers.
Don also liked fishing, however his favorite hobby was golfing. He played golf every chance he got. He will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather, he was a wonderful brother and uncle.
And he was a dear friend to all who knew him. He was preceded in death by: Parents, Cam and Alice (Ricketts) Williams, Wife, Renee Williams, Brother, Virgil Smith, Two sisters, Lillian Rose and Bug Lewis, Two great grandchildren, Carson Brewer and Asha Albert. He is survived by: Four children, Pam Queen and husband Randy of OKC, Teresa Paxson and husband Johnny of MWC, Cindy Brewer of OKC, Cody Williams and wife Krissi of Yukon.
Three step-children, Sean and Dawn Emerson of OKC, Theresa Sasnett of Mustang, A sister-in-law, Louise Smith of Calvin, OK. Nine grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, Several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Donnie boy will be greatly missed by his golfing buddies, Randvas {Randy Queen}, Davie Boy aka Mr. Smith {Dave Stewart} Big Randy {Randy Ricky}.
Funeral services will be 10:00am Thursday, Dec. 27, 2018 at Waterloo Rd. Baptist Church, 3100 E. Waterloo Rd in Edmond.
Committal services will be at 2:00pm at the Calvin Cemetery in Calvin, OK. Memorial donations may be made to the Calvin Cemetery Fund,______Calvin, OK 74531.
