Obituary for Donald Melvin Taylor Donald Melvin Taylor passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at the age of 77. He was born on June 12, 1941 in Walters, LA to Francis Taylor and Clara Jane Huffman Taylor. Donald is survived by his beloved wife, Rita Rogers Taylor; his children Eric Taylor (Adrianne), Brad Taylor (Amy), Aimee Cowell (Donald “Don”); his eight grandchildren Ashley, Mallory, Luke, Katie, Blake, Lane, Sarah, and Natalie; and one great-grandchild River.

He is also survived by his siblings Cleveland Taylor, Hugh Taylor, Clara Marion, Gail Laird, and Linda Guidry. Donald is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Doris Taylor. Donald retired from Brown & Root, Inc. after 33 years of dedicated service.

After his retirement, he also raised commercial poultry for 15 years for Sanderson Farms. Donald was a hard worker, but he most enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband for 53 years to his beloved Rita.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at New Zion Baptist Church, 17387 New Zion Baptist Church Road, Covington, LA 70435 on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at 2:30 PM with visitation at church on Sunday beginning at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow in Barker McManus Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Mr. Taylor to be made to New Zion Baptist Church.
