Donald Steven Westenskow passed away peacefully at home while holding hands with his loving wife on March 15, 2019 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Steve was born on May 14, 1949 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Donald Reese and Barbara Ann Schultz Westenskow. He graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1967.

He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on the Navajo Reservation. He then served his country honorably by joining the Army and later the Air Force. Steve had many jobs but the one he enjoyed the most was driving long haul the last 15 years which gave him the opportunity to see many special places in the country that he loved.

Steve had a passion for sports, and he enjoyed refereeing basketball for Salt Lake County and Jr. Jazz. He also enjoyed doing puzzles, cross stitch, and going to Disneyland. Steve and his wife Karen met while working at the Church History Museum.

They were married in September of 1992 and sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple in May of 1997. Steve is survived by his eternal companion, Karen, his children, April Johnson (Casey), Heidi Bulfer (Tom), Steven Westenskow (Allison), Tia Bulfer (Tim), Amanda Anderson (Justin), Sarah Westenskow and step-children, Reid Johnson (Danielle), Crystal Humphreys (Robert), Kami Tucker (Jeff). Sisters, Judy Bruse (Dave), Gay Najmabadi.

Brothers, Lee Westenskow (Annette), Todd Westenskow (Amanda). Twenty grandchildren, Kyle, Destiny, Matthew, Angel, Terry, Luxauna, Alexis, Micah, Silas, Payton, Kennedy, Oaklee, McCoy, Ethan, Kelton, Adilyn, Ariana, Canyon, Jayden, Harley. Three great grandchildren, Kyren, Brody, Jenidi.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Don and Barbara Westenskow and his brother, Mike Westenskow. Our sincere gratitude goes out to all of the doctors, nurses and office staff at the Utah Cancer Specialists for their exceptional care of Steve and me. To the nurses and doctors at Quality Home, Health and Hospice Care, thank you for helping us to have the opportunity to care for Steve in our home as per his wishes.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 22nd, at 12:00 p.m. at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, Salt Lake City, Utah 84109 with a viewing prior to services from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Interment will be at the Elysian Burial Gardens Cemetery, 1075 East 4580 South, Millcreek, Utah 84117.
