Donna Marie Cupani, aged 58, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 18, 2019 at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland, NJ. She was born on March 24 1960, to James and Genevieve Gindhart. A resident of Elmer, NJ for the past 19 years, Donna is survived by her husband of 36 years, Steven; sons Michael, John, and Nicolas; and daughter, Christina.

She is also survived by her mother, Genevieve Gindhart; brother, James Gindhart III. She is predeceased by her father, James Gindhart Jr. Donna was born in Abington, PA, and later moved to Timonium, Maryland, where she lived until moving to New Jersey. She started working at Bally’s Casino as a Security Guard, where she met her husband and the love of her life, Steven.

Although she was uninterested in his courtship at first, Steven took this as a challenge and convinced her to go see Smokey and the Bandit, and they quickly realized she was the Sally Field to his Burt Reynolds. Four short years after marrying in 1983, Steven and Donna gave birth to twin boys (Michael and John), later expanding their family in 1993 to include Nic. Donna had no intentions on stopping until she got her baby girl, Christina, who was born in 1995, and completed the perfect family.

Donna was an extremely devoted mother and friend, always caring for everyone – even beyond her own children and husband. She was a true “mom” to everyone and anyone she encountered. Donna loved her husband endlessly, and spent the last five years enjoying his retirement.

Whether they were spending their holidays with the Higgins, going for a long drive on a Saturday to Delaware or Lancaster, to a close friend’s house for dinner, or just cuddled on the couch; they did it together. She was known most for her infectious laugh, beautiful and bright smile, and ability to make anyone in a room chuckle until their stomachs hurt. The service, open to Donna’s family, friends, and anyone who lives she touched, will be held at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church (606 Shore Rd Somers Point, NJ).

Guests should arrive at 10:00am to pay respects to the family, with a mass to follow at 11:00am on Thursday 2/21/2019. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the family for service expenses by visiting this link: www.
