Donna Mae Rudler, 93 of Linesville, Pa was surrounded by her family as she peacefully passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 15th, at 1:12am. She was born on March 21st, 1925, in Ashtabula, Ohio to Maurice and Audrey Clark. She met her loving husband, Charles “Chuck” Rudler at the young age of 12.
He had to wait four long years until he could ask permission to date her, but knew she was the only one for him. In 1942, Chuck was drafted into WWII and in 1943 Donna Mae entered St Lukes School of Nursing in Cleveland, Ohio but no vastness of oceans could separate the love they had for each other. Chuck likes to share the story of how the other soldiers with him would tell him to forget about her, that she would be married to someone else and have two kids by the time he returned home.
Instead, when he returned to the United States, he found her waiting for him. They married on June 12th, 1945 and settled in Beaver Township, Conneautville where they raised their family. Donna Mae worked as a nurse at Brown Memorial Hospital in Conneaut, Ohio and finishing her 40 year career working in the ICU.
She was a member of the Linesville First Baptist Church and belonged to Sisters in Christ. Donna Mae took enjoyment in making quilts which she donated to family and many organizations over the years. She rarely (if ever) would leave the house “without her knitting” and loved to shop at her favorite store “Wally World” (AKA Walmart).
Her family will fondly remember her for many things including her love for Lucky Charms or Golden Grahams at any time of the day, her ever-so-unique birthday gifts that she would create to entertain her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, the silly jokes, brain teasers and her latest “noise making toys” and the way she always listened and was genuinely interested in what was going on in each one of their lives. Donna Mae is survived by her husband of 73 years, Charles and their three daughters, Bonnie (Neal) Dearborn of Conneautville, Cindy (Jim) Artman of Conneautville and Linda (Tom) Moore of Darlington. She will be missed and forever remembered by her grandchildren, Mark (Christina) Durfee, Andrew Durfee, Apryl Charlton, Barb (Jeff) Bowersox, Audrey (Doug) Stern, Dallas (Courtney) Yuhasz, Clayton Yuhasz and Matthew (Alyssa) Yuhasz.
She also had 12 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Donna Mae’s life will be celebrated with family and friends from 11am-1pm on Tuesday, December 18th, 2018 at Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U.S. Highway 6, Linesville. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Abe Edwards and Pastor Terry Smith co-officiating.
Private burial will be in Penn Line Cemetery.
