Donna Register , August 30, 1946 — December 26, 2018

Donna Register, age 72, of New Smyrna Beach, went to be with the Lord after a long struggle with cancer on December 26, 2018. Donna was born in Chambersburg, PA on August 30, 1946, the daughter of Orpha Monn Kump and Harold Elwood Hunsecker. In 1956, she moved to Daytona Beach with her family and graduated from Mainland High School in 1965.

Donna worked as a bank teller and in January, 1967 met Jimmie Lee Register. On July 15, 1967, she and Jimmie married in Daytona Beach and moved to New Smyrna Beach. Donna was a homemaker once her children were born.

She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church, New Smyrna Beach, where she sang in the choir and served as the Financial Secretary. In 1999, she and Jimmie retired and began enjoying traveling and visiting family and friends, camping trips and activities with her “Lunch Bunch” bible study group. Donna became an avid paper crafter, making hundreds of cards and gifts each year.

She loved to cook and always made sure family and friends were well fed. Donna was currently a member of the Servants’ Quarters Fellowship. Donna was preceded in death by her mother and father.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Jimmie Lee Register; two daughters, Sharon Janett (Scott) Davis and Audrey Beth (Jeffrey) Monken, and five grandchildren, Cole, Carter, Isabelle, Amelia, and Evangeline; her brother, Dennis Hunsecker; her stepmother, Mary Hunsecker, and four step sisters, Karen (Steve) Shrout, Linda (David) Curry, Patty (Tom) Meister and Luann Hunsecker. A memorial service will be 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at Settle-Wilder’s chapel, with Dr. David Starkey, Servants’ Quarters Fellowship, officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday, December 30, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. until the service.

Donna will be buried at the Jacksonville Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Donna’s memory to the Servants’ Quarters Fellowship, 1429 Sabal Palm Drive, Edgewater, FL 32132.
