Donnis Darlene Marcellus of Taylorville passed away on December 20, 2018 at her residence. Donnis was born in Taylorville on February 19, 1937 the daughter of Samuel and Bonnie (Anderson) Jack. Her first marriage to Melvin Walls ended in divorce.

She married Gene Marcellus in 1971 who preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Morrisonville High School and Browns Business College. Donnis spent many years volunteering with her church, Taylorville Food Pantry, Meals on Wheels, and the General Federation of Women’s Club where she served as an officer in several capacities, the Moose Club where she was awarded Volunteer of the Year, VFW Auxiliary, American Legion and the Eagles Club.

She enjoyed Bingo, Pinochle, Reading, traveling and always said she had the most fun at the Eagles. Donnis is survived by her daughter Patricia (Walls) Wells (husband Robert) of Taylorville; Grandchildren, who called her “Sugar”, Shawn Wells (wife Tricia) of Taylorville; Tiffany Wells (companion Ashley) of Taylorville; Great Grandchildren Michael Wells, Clairity Shepard, and Lylie Edwards; Also survived by her sister Dorris Schroyer of Taylorville, and brother Melvin Jack (wife Bonnie) of Palmer and several nieces and nephews. Graveside Rites and interment will be at Auburn Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday December 26, 2018.

Celebration of Life to follow at 1:00 p.m. at the American Legion in Taylorville.
