Obituary for Doralea Joyce Martinez Doralea Joyce Martinez, 56, of Thornton, CO, passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 11, 1962, in Denver, CO, and was raised in Thornton. Doralea graduated from Highland High School in Thornton.
Doralea was a loving mother, daughter, granddaughter, grandmother, sister, niece, cousin and friend. She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Martinez; her step-father, Tony Quintana; maternal grandmother, Elsie Muniz; paternal grandfather, Philomeno Martinez; and paternal grandmother, Antonia Valerio and her aunt Loney Martinez. Doralea is survived by her mother, Dolores Quintana; maternal grandfather, Greg Muniz; her son, John Martinez; daughter, Jolene (Eddie Aguilera) Martinez; daughter, Jadine (Carlos) Martinez; and son, Matthew (Destinee) Torres; sisters, Terri Martinez, Michelle (Jonathan) Zarbock and Suzette (Ron) Salazar.
Doralea had 12 grandchildren: Alexus, Brandon, Gabriel, Isaiah, Ariana, Evangeline, Isabella, Karma, Isaac, Ciera, Ilijah and Nathaniel; and three great-grandchildren: Leo, Ana’laiyah and Logan. Doralea is also survived by her niece, Brittney (Eddie and Remy Munoz) Salazar, nephew, Jordan Salazar, her aunt and uncle Albert and Loretta Abeyta and numerous cousins and many friends. The family would like to thank everyone for their love and support at this difficult time.
Services will be at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 9371 Wigham St., Thornton, on Tuesday, Aug. 7. The Rosary is at 10:30 a.m; Mass at 11 a.m.; and reception to follow in Ave Maria Hall.
Doralea loved to bless her family and friends by preparing a delicious meal or taking a ride up the hill to play her favorite slot machine. She loved to tell great stories about her past, making us all reminisce and laugh. She shared her love of music with her family.
She shared her faith and love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus. Doralea was a talented pool player who participated in leagues. She liked to talk to people and really get to know them.
Everywhere she would go, she would stop to talk to a stranger and make a friend, and she often ran into people she knew, as well.
