Obituary for Dorothy Garner Dorothy Garner went home to be with our Lord July 27. She is safe and whole again without pain. She was.

Greeted by her husband, Eugene H Garner. They are better known as Dot and Gene. Her parents were there to welcome her, Martha Ellen Hammond Causey and Roy Augustus Causey, Sr., her mother-in-law, Maude McCallum Garner, and father-in-law, Frank Lee Garner.

Her brother, Alfred Gordon Causey, three nieces and one nephew, her sister-in-law, Lillie May Causey, brother-in-law, Frank Garner and sister-in-law, Cleo Garner, various cousins, great aunts & uncles among other family and many friends. Dot and Gene started out with nothing at the ages of 18 and 19. They worked together and kept learning every day.

Gene sold several things door to door to make a living for them and, at the same time, take correspondence courses to get an education. Dot enjoyed sewing and made clothes for her family and some friends. Gene had a garden and Dot would can the food for winter.

They had rabbits for a while then later Pekingese dogs. They took square dancing and round dance classes and danced for about 40 years making lifetime friends. Dot sewed square dance dresses not only for herself but for her friends.

She took tole painting classes and painted some beautiful pictures. Gene studied and climbed the career ladder to Air Force Quality Control Inspector and checked electronics on several of the space missiles at NASA. He was able to retire at 55 and in retirement, they enjoyed boating, picking up oysters and clams, entertaining grandchildren during the summers and taking family to Disney.

They travelled to be with family quite often, especially during the times they were needed. They grew some of the best citrus in their backyard and shared with anyone who wanted it. Dot and Gene had a great life together and quite often reminisced about if all.

They both lived to be 96 years old and were great partners in life being married just under 77 years. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Laura Garner. Dot is survived by her brother, Roy A. Causey, (Lillie Mae), sister-in-law, Kay Causey (Gordon) Children: Martha May (Dick), Eugene Garner (Jane), Richard Garner (Toby); Grandchildren: Lisa Brogdon, Gregory Brogdon, (Darlene), Melissa Smith (Ken), Elizabeth Thompson (Matt).

Jackson Garner, Katherine Garner, Emma Garner Great grandchildren: Mallory Faust (Billy), Kirsten Brogdon (Chad), Courtney Pedine, Austin Ledford, Anslee Ledford, Nicholas Smith, Lauren Smith, Kenleigh Smith. Great, great grandchildren: Avery Faust, Wyatt Faust, Savannah Pedine. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Parrott Funeral Home with Dr. Jimmy Orr.
