OBITUARY Dorothy H Garner August 2, 1929 – October 21, 2018 Dorothy Garner, age 89, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 21, 2018 in Southaven, Mississippi at Hermitage Gardens. Dot was born August 2, 1929 in Memphis, Tennessee as the third of five daughters to Gertrude and William Arthur Hood. She was a 1947 honors graduate of Whitehaven High School and attended Memphis State University where she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority.

Dot was employed first at the Army Depot and then at the Sears on Broad Avenue where she retired after more than 25 years of faithful service. Dot married her high school sweetheart David Lewis “Red” Garner in 1949 and they had one daughter, Deborah Kay Garner. The Garners enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Dot was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved daughter Debbie and husband Red, in addition to her sisters: Joyce Acosta, Mildred Eberle and Mary Ethel Hood. She is survived by her sister Jean Fuson and a host of nieces and nephews.
