Dorothy’s Obituary Dorothy Irene Taylor, also known as Dot, Aunt Dottie, Grandma Dot, and Mom, entered Heaven Friday evening February 22, 2019, in her home in Tulsa at 4:45 pm. She was attended by members of her precious family when she passed peacefully. She was 93 years old.

Dorothy was born on November 3, 1925, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, to Benjamin Franklin McCormick and Anna Josephine Neilson McCormick. She was the youngest daughter of five siblings and was the runt. At a young age she became the pianist for her parents’ churches and accordion player for their jail services.

She was a graduate of Sapulpa High School, Class of 1943, and received an associate’s degree from the former Draughon School of Business in Tulsa. She married E.J. “Bud” Taylor on March 18, 1949 and they were married more than 60 years before his death in 2010. They were longtime members of the Carbondale Assembly of God beginning in the late fifties.

Dorothy was an incredibly talented typist and organizer. She worked for a variety of oil companies and an accounting firm in her long work history as an administrative assistant. She also played piano for various Gospel groups over the years alongside her husband the singer.

And, although she was self-taught (some would say divinely gifted), as with anything else she put her hand to, she was exceptional. She was preceded in death by her husband Bud; her parents, Ben and Anna; and all of her siblings: Thelma, John, Grace, Vi, and Bob. Dorothy is survived by her son Jeff Taylor of Sapulpa; her daughter Sheryl McQuary and husband Alan of Tulsa; Her grandchildren: Brandon, Megan, Whitney, Emily, Andrew, Anna, and Natalie; 9 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Her Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm, February 26, 2019 at the Carbondale Assembly of God. Viewing will be hosted at Smith Funeral Home in Sapulpa from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Monday, February 25, 2019. Arrangements are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, 1208 S Main St, Sapulpa, OK.
