Mrs. Dorothy J. (Dottie) Burch Macri, 75, a resident of Mountain Top, passed into eternal life unexpectedly Thursday evening, December 13 in the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital following a recent illness. Born February 13, 1943 in Matawan, New Jersey, she was a daughter to the late Daniel T. and Harriet (Bird) Burch. Educated in the New Jersey schools, Mrs. Macri furthered her education towards her vocation in nursing by attending the JFK Muhlenberg Harold B. & Dorothy A. Snyder Schools in Hackensack, New Jersey.

Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Macri was employed as a registered nurse most recently with the Department of Veterans Affairs Nursing Center in Plains Township. Prior to that, Dottie was employed by the former Davis Nursing Center in Mountain Top and also performed private duty nursing locally. In her early years as a nurse, she worked in New Jersey hospitals in pre-admission testing.

Dorothy was a member of the Mountain Top Presbyterian Church, Chestnut Street, Mountain Top. She is remembered by those who knew and loved her as being a wonderful loving mother, grandmother, devoted professional nurse and dear friend. In addition to her parents, Dottie was preceded in death by her sister, Donna J. Burch in 1996 and by her former husband, Mr. James P. Macri in 2012.

Left to mourn her passing and cherish her memory are her only daughter, Mrs. Carrie Macri-Tereska and her husband Adam, at home; Granddaughters, Sereya and Kiara Tereska; Several nieces nephews and dear friends. Memorial funeral services for Mrs. Macri will be conducted on Saturday, December 22nd at 4:30 p.m. from the Wilkes-Barre Heights location of the John V. Morris Family Funeral Homes Inc., 281 East Northampton Street. Interment will be private and at the convenience of Dorothy’s family.

Relatives and friends may join Mrs. Macri’s family for visitation and remembrances Saturday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of services.
