Dorothy Marie Smith Batchelor, 89, of La Grange passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at her home. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend. She loved to cook for her family and always had a smile on her face.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Frank Batchelor; parents, Sadie and Elry Rhodes; daughter, Joyce Ann Batchelor; son-in-law, Dennis Foy; grandson, Christopher Foy; son-in-law, James Coburn. Survivors include Donald Batchelor (Rosemarie) of New Bern, Joe Batchelor (Carla) of Kinston, Virginia Cunningham (Lynwood) of Grifton, Barbara Rice and Mary Gooding of La Grange, Pattie Dudley (Willie) of Vanceboro, Shirley Foy of Trenton, Janet Kellam (Mike) of Grifton, Joan Coburn of Cookeville, Tennessee, 18 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon at Garner Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 2, 2018.

Funeral Service will start at 12:00 noon with Burt Potter officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later time. Garner Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
