Obituary for Dorothy M. Polzin Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Friday, October 5, 2018 at Hoyt Nursing & Rehab Centre. Age 102 years. The daughter of the late Joseph and Frances (Wichlacz) Koski, Dorothy was born May 30, 1916 in Saginaw, Michigan.

She married James W. Polzin on July 28, 1945. He predeceased her March 1, 2007. Dorothy was employed at JC Penney for 14 years until her retirement in 1980.

She was a member of St. Dominic Parish, the League of Catholic Women, Catholic Study Club and the Ladies Auxiliary of St. Mary’s Hospital and Knights of Columbus Council #4232. She enjoyed crafting, quilting, sewing, basket weaving and knitting and played Bridge with the same card club for over 60 years. Most of all, Dorothy loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.

Surviving are two daughters, four sons and their spouses, Suzanna McCarthy, Everett, Washington; Mike (Angela Autera) Polzin, East Lansing; Andrew Polzin, Saginaw; Charlie and Robyn Polzin, Beverly Hills, Michigan; Bill and Lisa Polzin, Grand Rapids; Terri and Duane Scheuerlein, Freeland; a daughter-in-law, Janet Polzin, Holt; 15 grandchildren, Joanne (Chris) Giordano, Maureen (David Rabkin) McCarthy, Chris and Rachel Autera-Polzin, Mark Polzin, Becky (Andrew) Rathbun, Alex, Matthew, Madelyn, Gabe, Ben and Nick Polzin, Jared (Courtney), Amanda (Alex) Kernstock and Mariah Scheurerlein; five great-grandchildren, Jake, Aurora, Ryker, Agnes and Ariel; many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by a son, Steve Polzin, two brothers, Theodore and Henry Koski, and by a sister, Eleanor Vertacnik. Dorothy’s family extends their gratitude and appreciation to Hoyt Nursing & Rehab Centre and related hospice providers as well as St. Dominic Parish for their loving and compassionate care.

Funeral Liturgy will take place 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 11, 2018 at St. Dominic Parish-St. Stephen Catholic Church, 2711 Mackinaw in Saginaw. Rev. Fr.

Ronald Wagner will officiate with private burial in St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may visit at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. , (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at St. Stephen Catholic Church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass.

Family and friends will share memories 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
