Dorothy V. Bean, 83, of Bradford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at the Bradford Manor surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 11, 1935 in Bedford, PA, the daughter of the late James and Jane Williams Smith. She was a 1955 graduate of the Clearfield Area High School.

On October 5, 1957 she married James A. Bean, who survives, in Frenchville. She was employed by the former Corning Manufacturing, Bradford, from 1972 until her retirement… Read More » in 1993. She was a member of the St. Bernard Catholic Church and the NRA.

She enjoyed spending time gardening. She was a devoted wife and mother who loved spending time with her family. In addition to her husband of 61 years, James Bean of Bradford, she is also survived by four sons, Alan (Jan) Bean of Bradford, Jeffrey Bean of Frisco, TX, Stephen (Kathi) Bean of Eugene, OR and Timothy (Denise) Bean of Bradford; one brother, Ron Smith of Rockville, MD; eleven grandchildren; one great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by five brothers, James Smith, Clarence Smith, Clair Smith, Darrel Smith and Joseph Smith. The family will receive friends at the St. Bernard Catholic Church, Bradford, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 with a Mass of Christian Burial to immediately follow at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Raymond Gramata as celebrant.

Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park, Lafayette. Memorial contributions in her memory can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
