Dorothy Marie Terry Young, age 77 of the Grave Hill Community, gained her Heavenly body with her family by her bedside on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at her home. She was born in Scott County, Tennessee on September 20, 1940 to the late Caney and Maudie Terry. Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother.

She spent her life as a homemaker and dedicated mother. Through her years, she never met a child that didn’t call her mommy or mamaw within a few minutes. Dorothy’s love for children was her life’s passion.

Her candle will forever burn in the hearts and minds of all that knew her. She was a member of the Black Oak Baptist Church. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Caney and Maudie Terry; mother and father-in-law Raymond and Martha Young; brother Theodore Terry; brothers-in-law Kenneth, Eugene, Carlos, Robert and Ronald Young; very special great granddaughter Olivia Young and Paula Yancey whom she loved like her daughter.

Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 59 years Billy Ray Young; children: Marian Popp and husband Jeff of Knoxville, Tennessee, Brenda Stringer and husband Danny, Mike Young and wife Melinda, Steve Young and wife Teresa, Martha Thomas and husband Dale, Billy Young and wife Stacey all of Oneida, Tennessee; grandchildren: Hannah Popp and boyfriend Rion, Chris Stringer and wife Angie, Justin Young and wife Alisha, Samantha Williams and husband Travis, Michael Young, Christy Young, Whitney Thomas and boyfriend Dylan, Cameron Thomas, Morgan Young and boyfriend Raiden, ZoieAnne and Nathan Young; great grandchildren: Madison Stringer, Owen Young, Zack Williams, Michalean Young, Steven Young, Austin Young and Alexis Byrd; great-great grandchildren: Larah Goodman; brothers: J.D. and wife Patsy, Harlan and wife Jewell, Cordell and wife Ova; sisters: Lola Terry and husband Milford, Bonnie Miller and Mae Ledford; brother-in-law Jamie Young; sister-in-law Pearl Jeffers; many other relatives and friends. Friends may visit with the Young family on Friday, June 29, 2018 form 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. in the chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home. Funeral service will be on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 12 p.m. in the chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Bro.

Bradley Kidd and Bro. Ashley Cooper officiating. Music will be provided by the family.

Burial will follow in the Hazel Valley Memorial Cemetery in Oneida. Serving as pallbearers will be children and grandchildren. Jones & Son Funeral Home is serving the family of Dorothy Marie Terry Young.
