Douglas Brauner Rhines, lifelong resident of Hingham, passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at the age of 87. Beloved husband of the late Jane (Hutchinson) Rhines. Loving father to Amy Hall and her husband Jeffrey Gibbons of Hull, Abigail Thielman and her husband Frank of Alabama, and Jennifer Cataldo of Hull.

Cherished grandfather to Jonathan Thielman and his wife Emily of Colorado, Christopher Cataldo of Boston, Sarah Jane Thielman of Michigan, Rebekah Thielman of Connecticut, and Douglas Gibbons of Hull. Great grandfather of Isaiah James Thielman. Son of the late Karen and Paul Rhines.

Mr. Rhines proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was the Maintenance Supervisor for the town of Hingham for many years. Douglas enjoyed taking long walks, nature and especially the ocean.

He was a wonderful and gentle man who will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. Arrangements are in the care of Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel in Hingham.
