Braintree MA – Mary Dowd, age 76 years, passed away peacefully at her home in Braintree on Monday November 5th 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born and raised in Carraroe Co. Galway Ireland and was one of 8 children born to the late Coleman and Julia Lydon (Flaherty). She was also the beloved wife of the late Raymond (Tommy) Dowd.

Mary is survived by her children Mary Geary of Abington MA, Kathleen Carey of Merrimack NH, Julie Dolan of Cary NC and Thomas Dowd of Braintree MA and predeceased by her daughter Lisa Dowd. She was the sister of Coilin Lydon, John Lydon, the late Margaret McMahon, Peter Lydon, Sheila DeRusha, the late Paraic Lydon and Martin Lydon. She also leaves her grandchildren Steven Dowd, Erin Carey, Ashling Geary, Ryan Carey, Barry Dolan, Riley Dolan, 2 great grandchildren Madelyn and Isla Dowd and a multitude of nieces, nephews and cousins.

A strong, proud and independent woman Mary will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all those knew and loved her. May she rest in peace. Upon the request of the family, services and interment will be held privately.
