Douglass Hammond was born January 6, 1960, in Berrien Springs, Michigan.

He was born to Willie Mae Ware and Edward Earl Hammond. Douglass departed his life peacefully in his home on January 26, 2019 He was baptized at Ebenezer Baptist Church by Rev. Walter L Brown.

Douglass received his formal education in the Benton Harbor school system. He enjoyed life as a quiet peaceful man, with a few close friends and associates. Douglass was preceded in his death by his brother Larry L. Ware and his sons: Douglass Jr. Dale and Allen Dale He leaves to cherish precious memories: His mother, Willie Mae Ware of Benton Harbor; His brother Ozell Moore; His sister, Dorothy (Ed) Potts; Michael (Barbara) Ware; His brother, David (Pam) Ware; Rosiland (Leroy) Robinson; His sister Dolly Johnson; His brother Charles McCaleb; His brother Larry Johnson; His sister Denise Charlotte; His sister Stacey (Danny) Bradley; Five aunts and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
