Obituary of Douglas Hill, Sr. Douglas Wakeman Hill Sr., age 96, of Monroe, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family on June 4th 2018. Douglas was born on November 7th 1921 in Fairfield, to Joseph Wakeman Hill and Esther Wade Hill, and was raised in Greenfield Hill, Fairfield. Upon graduating from Roger Ludlowe High School Douglas joined the US Army Air Corp.

He was a Corporal in the 63rd Airdrome Squadron and a veteran of WWII. Douglas was the devoted husband of Frances Joan McNamara Hill. They were married in the Greenfield Hill Congregational Church in Fairfield more than 71 years ago, and resided in Monroe for the past 60 years where they raised their 5 children.

Douglas graduated from K & M Engineering School. A motorcycle enthusiast, he was a member of the Fairfield Motorcycle Club and the Milford Riders for many years. He was an active member of the Monroe Bowling League, The Stepney Methodist Church, The Gaelic American Club, and The American Legion Post 176.

He was very proud to have built the first baseball field in Monroe with Mr. Walter Yanosy. Douglas retired from Bridgeport Hydraulic Co., where he had been employed for over 26 years, in 1984, and worked for A & G Auto Supply for 10 years during his retirement. He is survived by his beloved wife, his children Jay Wakeman Hill and his wife Donna of Mashpee, MA; Cathy Joan Greco and her husband Dominick of Milford, CT; Dawn O’Brien Hill of Monroe, CT; Douglas Wakeman Hill Jr. and his wife Patricia of Monroe, NC; and Kelly McNamara Elliott and her husband Kevin of Newtown, CT.

Grandchildren include Kristi Hill, Jennifer (Chris) Orne, Meredith (Simon) Tuozzoli, Kerri (Douglas) Russell, Katie (Matthew) Cole, Jessica Hill, Ryan (Katelynn) Clark, Stephen Douglas Clark, Dena (Scott) Adams, Jodi (Brian) Alcutt, Keri (Neil) King, Amber and Cameron Elliott. As well as 12 Great-Grandchildren, Thor, Olive and Esmè Tuozzoli, Griffin Douglas Mercier, Joseph Russell, Isla and Vada Cole, Danielle, Jacob and Kylie Adams, and Ryan and Ava King. Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, June 8, 2018 from 10:00-12:00 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plans Rd, Trumbull, CT.

Burial will follow at Aspetuck Cemetery, Easton. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Joseph Evangelista for all of his kindness and care. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The American Legion Post 176 at 107 Cutlers Farm Rd, Monroe CT 06468.
