Dr. Donna Lucille Sloan died May 13, 2019 at Macomb, Illinois. She was born June 6, 1933 to W. Leroy Sloan and Leta Sloan. She graduated from Volga High School and worked several years in Elkader, Ia.

Then she attended ISU and earned a BS. She taught home economics in Clear Lake and Marengo, Ia. .

She went back to ISU to get her MS. After obtaining her degree, she got a position teaching textiles and clothing at Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL where she taught until her retirement. During her tenure she earned a PHD from Ohio State University.

She was an active member of Wesley United Church and also a member of AARP, PEO and University Women. Donna was an avid bridge player and played Mexican dominoes. Donna had many fiends especially her best friend, her cat Oreo.

Donna is survived by her sister, Doris and brother-in-law Leo Buckley from Des Moines, her niece Janet and husband Nathan Weeden and nephew Jerry Buckley, all from Des Moines. Her last years were spent residing at Wesley Village in Macomb, Ill a victim of Alzheimers. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Macomb with Reverend Dr. Howard White officiating.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11a.m. Wednesday at the Church. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2019 at the Volga Cemetery in Volga, Iowa. Memorials can be sent to Wesley Village or Wesley United Church both in Macomb.

Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb is in charge of arrangements.
