Obituary for Dr. Doyle B Hill, DO (Mountain Grove) Doyle Bert Hill, DO of Mountain Grove, Missouri, was born on November 24, 1933 to the late Lawrence and E Marie (Wyrick) Hill. He became a Christian at an early age and was a lifelong member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Bay City, Michigan. While living in Mtn.

Grove, Doyle regularly attended and actively supported the First Freewill Baptist Church. He went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 21, 2018 in his home. He was blessed with 85 years of vibrant life.

Doyle was raised in the Mtn. Grove area and attended Mtn. Grove Schools through the 1st semester of his senior year where he thoroughly enjoyed playing Panther football.

He then moved to Montpelier, OH where he graduated from High School in 1951. After HS graduation, he attended Junior College in Finley, Ohio, where he participated in football for two years before joining the US Navy where he served in Hawaii. Upon his discharge from the service, he attended Ohio State University and received his undergraduate degree in pre-med.

From there, he went on to medical school at the Chicago College of Medicine earning his Doctor of Osteopathy degree. Following graduation, Dr. Hill completed his internship in Bay City, MI. , where he then spent the next 28 years, not only practicing medicine, but enriching the lives of those around him.

He was donated his time serving as the team physician and generously helping the athletes of the local school during his time in Bay City. In 1992 Dr. Hill and Sherry chose to relocate and return to Doyle’s roots in Mtn. Grove where he opened his medical practice, The Mountain Grove Medical and Laser Center.

Although his profession was being a doctor, his generous service extended far beyond the walls of his clinics. Multiple people of all ages and walks of life were touched by Doc’s passion of loving people and generously pouring into the lives of others in his many trademark ways. For 26 years, countless coaches and athletes in MGHS were attended to no matter the day of the week or hour of the day.

Doc was determined to ensure that they were taken care of and ready to get back to the field or court as quickly and efficiently as possible. It was a usual practice of his to show up at the door of varieties of folks with a special treat, meal, or assistance of some kind just because he thought it would make them feel special. Another great joy of Dr. Hill was to, each year, give a deserving athlete a $1000 scholarship to assist them in furthering their education.

Doyle certainly wanted others to come to know his Savior. He was blessed with the means and the desire to financially support numerous students in Mexico who were seeking to become pastors. He took great delight in the trips he could make to Mexico to donate his time and labor to enhance the quality of the facilities for those students.

Throughout Doyle’s life he passionately poured himself into enriching the lives of others, but only his love of the Lord trumped his passion for nurturing, protecting, enjoying, and providing for his beautiful bride and love of his life, Sherry. This desire was tenderly evident to the very end. Dr. Hill was preceded in death by his parents; E Marie and Lawrence, his in-laws; Maurice and Delores Crook, and a brother, Sam Hill.

While we are saddened by Doc’s passing, we rejoice that he is free from suffering and celebrate that the world is a better place for his influence, inspiration, and selfless investment in all who were blessed by his footprints.

A host of family and friends near and far will greatly miss this wonderful man. We hold onto Hope in the Lord and remind ourselves of this passage that is so fitting to our Doyle: 2 Timothy 4:7-8: “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is a crown of righteousness, with the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing”. A special thank you to Hospice Compassus of Mountain Grove for the care and compassion provided in the past few weeks, and special care givers, Crystal Bender and Christina Allen for the personal integrity demonstrated through their dedicated commitment to compassionately and lovingly walk with Sherry through Doyle’s health decline and home going.
