Dr. Thomas J. Fishel, age 58, entered his heavenly home on December 21, 2018. He was born in Neenah on April 2, 1960, the son of Donald and Marilyn (Springhetti) Fishel. He graduated from Neenah High School in Neenah, Wisconsin, in 1978.
He attended the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh for his undergraduate degree and proceeded to graduate from the University of Minnesota with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1987. While in school, he met the love of his life, Gail, and married her on May 16, 1987. Gail (Pueppke) Fishel, a registered dental hygienist, and Thomas moved back to Neenah and opened their own dental practice in 1989.
They have successfully been helping others for 32 years. Thomas used his God-given talents to serve his community. He went out of his way to take care of his patients, often going above and beyond standard medical treatment.
Thomas treated his patients as family and truly cared about their well-being. It was typical for patients to leave the office with a hug. He was a selfless man who demonstrated kindness and generosity to all, and he was able to see the good in everyone.
His thoughtfulness and faith in God were carried throughout his dental practice, family, and life. Thomas will be most known for being a wonderful family man. He was always there for his family and treasured his time spent with those he loved.
There were many good memories from taking family vacations, going on bike rides, and spending time in his hometown of Neenah. He enjoyed animals and was proud to care for all God’s creatures, often spending his leisure time with his backyard chickens. Tom’s greatest gifts were his thoughtfulness for others and willingness to help those in need.
Tom will be deeply missed by his wife Gail, his son Kirkland (Courtney) Fishel, his daughter, Alexandra Fishel, and his mother Marilyn. He is also survived by a sister, Susan Fishel, and her children Eric, Matthew, and Chelsea; brothers-in-law Mark (Darla) Pueppke and their daughter Hattie, and Bruce (Wendy) Pueppke and their daughters Katelyn and Brittney; and his mother-in-law Caroline and father-in-law John Pueppke. Tom was preceded in death by his father Donald Fishel, and his grandparents John and Louise Springhetti.
A celebration of Thomas’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 28, 2018, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, located at 900 Geiger St. in Neenah, with Fr. John Becker officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in Tom’s honor.
Although we will deeply miss Tom and didn’t want to see him leave us, we realized it was God’s time to take him home. We will always remember him for his humble nature, compassion, and love for all mankind. We love you.
