Obituary of Duane Burns Duane “Terry” Burns passed peacefully in his sleep on early Monday morning, January 14, 2019. He lived in Tucson for 64 years. Terry was born in 1934 in Indianapolis and moved to Tucson in 1955.

He was hired out on the Southern Pacific Railroad December 23, 1955, promoted to conductor February 1,1966 and retired with 38 years of service. He also served as a union officer for the United Transportation Union Local 807. He is survived by his 4 children from Tucson, Lance Burns, Shawn Burns, Teresa Burns and Beth Callender.

His 3 grandsons, Noah Burns, Triston Burns and James Strollo, also from Tucson. His sister, Nita Carol Vergara from Cottonwood, AZ, his niece Nancy Burnett and his nephew Steve Vergara also from Cottonwood, AZ and his partner of almost 30 years Jean King. He was a loving man to his family and friends, a dedicated man to his beliefs, a friend to all, (he never met a stranger) and a man who loved to laugh.

He was generous, kind and optimistic. We will all miss him dearly but we know he lived an interesting life with many adventures always seeking the truth.
