Obituary for E. ‘Tommy’ Perkins It is with great sadness that the family of Emmett (Tommy) Perkins announces his passing on Friday, June 29, 2018. Born April 26, 1946 in Charlottesville, Virginia, Tommy attended Rock Hill Academy as well as Blue Ridge Academy before joining the U.S. Army where he served proudly in Vietnam and Okinawa. After his military service, Tommy returned to Charlottesville where he lived until moving to Williamsburg, Virginia in the 1980s.

In Williamsburg, Tommy joined the ranks of Liberty Warehousing, Inc. where he served as Vice President of Operations for over 30 years. It was there that he strived each day to provide customer service that well exceeded industry standards. He lived by the philosophy, “If we put a man on the moon in ’69, we can accomplish anything”.

Through his long employment, Tommy formed close friendships with so many fellow employees and customers, whom he greatly missed after he was unable to continue to work. He was preceded in death by his father, Emmett T. Perkins Sr., his mother, Janice D. Perkins, and a brother Bill Perkins. Tommy will be sorely missed by his wife of 34 years, Diana Meadows Perkins; his daughter Meredith Brown (Justin); his son Emmett “Thomas” Perkins III (Erika); four granddaughters Ayden Brown, Adalynn Brown, Aubrey Perkins, Leah Perkins; brother Bobby Perkins (Brenda); sister-in-law Donna Perkins (Bill); mother-in-law Lois Meadows; as well as extended family and dear friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to the James City-Bruton Volunteer Fire Department P.O. Box 382, Toano, Virginia 23168. One passing comment to all his Virginia Tech friends, Tommy says, “Wahoowa! ”.
