Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Mr. Earnest Dewitt Jones, 86, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2019, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. Visitation will be Monday, February 18, 2019, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m., also at Coleman Funeral Home.

Interment will be at the Garden of Memories. Bro. Jay Derryberry will officiate.

Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Jones was born in Taylor, MS. He spent most of his life farming.

Mr. Jones also served as a minister at a small town church in Arkansas for a short period of time. He was a fan of the outdoors and enjoyed fishing when he had the chance. Mr. Jones also served our country in the United States Army Corp.

Mr. Jones is survived by two sons, Calvin Earnest Jones of Pontotoc, MS, and Ricky Kitchens of Oxford; three brothers, Larry Jones of Olive Branch, MS, Ed (Jeannette Smith) Jones of Abbeville, MS, and Roy Jones of Oxford; one sister, Peggy Burks of Oxford; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents, Major Jones and Clytie Jones; five brothers, Earl Jones, James Arthur Jones, J.D. Jones, Bobby Jones, and William Oscar Jones; and one sister, Julie Jones. In honor of Mr. Earnest Dewitt Jones’ service to our country, the flag of the United States Army will be flown at Coleman Funeral Home.
