Obituary for Edith Ray Parker FORT WORTH – Edith Ezell Parker, 96, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 29, 2018. Edith was born Oct. 21, 1921 to Fred Ezell and Bertha Sherman Ezell in Gent, Cherokee County.

She grew up as a child of the depression on a farm alongside Gum Creek, near Maydelle. She graduated from Maydelle High School in 1939. Edith attended Lon Morris College in Jacksonville.

As a member of the greatest generation, she moved to Dallas at the beginning of World War II to work as a “Rosie the Riveter” at North American Aviation. She met her future husband, Edward Parker, there and they were married April 20, 1946. They were married for 64 years and had two children, LInda and Paul.

They lived in the Rosen Heights neighborhood on the North Side of Fort Worth. Later, they moved to River Oaks. Edith was a dedicated member of Rosen Heights Baptist Church and The Good Cheer Sunday school class for over 70 years, teaching five year olds in Sunday School for many years.

Edith was an active member of the PTA during her children’s school years. Edith and her sister-in-law, LUcille Culps, opened Azle Florist in the early 1960’s. She worked at a wholesale floral supply until retirement.

Ed and Edith loved to travel by car and covered much of the U.S. She was a talented seamstress. She was preceded in death by her husband; and three siblings, Sherman, Ezell, Ann Henson and John Ezell.

Survivors: Daughter, Linda Mulkey and husband, Lee; son, Paul Parker and wife, Kim; granddaughter, Kasey Snoe and husband, Scott; and great-grandson, Wyatt Snoe.
