Edward Anthony Bosch, 52, of Charlotte, died unexpectedly at his home on May 20, 2019. “Ed” as he was known at work, “Anthony” as he was known to his wife, and “Andy” as he was known to his family blessed this world with his presence in Princeton, NJ, on October 9, 1966, the son of Edward and Aurora Guzzo Bosch. He grew up (well, got older anyway, he never felt growing up was something you had to do) in southern NJ, and graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in Automotive Technology and a minor in malt beverage consumption.
In the 1980’s, he moved to Charlotte, NC. On October 9, 1992, he married Kara Hayes at St. Mary’s Historic Chapel in downtown Charlotte. He worked for numerous auto care places in the area including Gerard Auto Care in Mint Hill, McCarthy Tire, Firestone Car Care Center and the Goodyear Auto Center in Matthews.
He was well known to the Matthews Police as he would do the winter tire swap outs on their vehicles. He knew the officers so well that after racing one of them down the median on Monroe Road, Ed told the judge that the only reason he had to show up for court was because the officer lost. Ed was a rebel who would go against the grain and buck the system whenever he could.
Many stories will remain untold until the statute of limitations has passed. He did not expect others to change, however, as with Ed what you saw was what you got and he expected the same of others. Ed had no problem taking in the things in life that brought him joy.
Beautiful women, NASCAR, Alan Kulwicki and country music were just some of the joys he counted in life. Ed could turn off the country music though when he felt more in the mood to listen to Metallica, AC/DC, or any of the other classic rock bands before the girlish looking hairbands showed up. Perhaps most notably, he is now doing his own “Spirit in the Sky” video with Norman Greenbaum as you read this.
Not to feel uncultured, Ed also enjoyed the finer “ings” in life: Fishing, hunting, shooting and drinking. If you haven’t already gathered it, Ed was not someone who could be put into a few paragraphs for the all the love, laughter and blessings he left behind. Speaking of blessed, Ed also had an uncanny ability to work with his hands.
There wasn’t anything he could not take apart nor put back together. And in all seriousness, Ed loved most of all the time spent with family and friends, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His conspiracy theories and tinfoil hat spirit ensure he will not be forgotten anytime soon!
Ed is survived by his wife, Kara of Charlotte; two children that his wife knows of: Rebecca and James; father, Edward Joseph (wife Joan) of Fort Mill, SC; three sisters: Helene Jo (husband William) Weyland of Clementon, NJ; Aurora Theresa Bosch of Charlotte; and Donna (husband Chris) Lipinski of Grand Blanc, MI. Ed is further survived by four nieces: Samantha, Kailey, Nina and Cassie; two nephews: Billy and David; as well as numerous other family and friends. Ed’s family has given the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of caring for him and for them.
As Ed wanted, a gathering of friends not holding a sad, sappy service but instead celebrating his craziness and joys in life will be held from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home, 4715 Margaret Wallace Road, Matthews, NC. All are encouraged to “come as they are”, especially well-endowed blonde females, and spend time informally sharing the stories and memories Ed left behind. All services will conclude that evening.
