Edward Cameron (Eddie) Reed September 23, 1936 – March 16, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card| Memorial Donation Edward Cameron “Eddie” Reed, age 82, passed away at Clifford Chester Sims State Veterans Nursing Home in Panama City, Florida on March 16, 2019 after surviving a massive stroke in February 2017. He was born in Chestertown, Maryland on September 23, 1936. Eddie joined the United States Air Force and served faithfully for 21 years.

During that time he worked as a Motor Vehicle Operator/Civil Engineer at 3650th Motor Vehicle Squadron, Geneva, NY; HqSaMAp, Clark AFB, Philippines; 1405th Mat Squadron, Scott AFB, IL; 1607th Field Maintenance Squadron, Dover AFB, DE; 556th Civil Engineer Squadron, Bangkok, Thailand; 3902 Civil Engineer Squadron, Offutt AFB, NE; 6551 Civil Engineer Squadron, Patrick AFB, FL and 3202nd Civil Engineering Squadron, Eglin AFB, FL. After retiring from the military, Eddie worked as an OTR Truck Driver and Dump Truck Operator until his retirement in 2010. He was a proud member of the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans (DAV).

He was also a past President of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). During his free time, he enjoyed fishing in his 6 acre pond, playing bingo, going to auctions and contributing his children’s inheritance to the casinos. He was predeceased in death by his 1st wife, Merlyn Liwinag Reed; his 2nd wife, Magdalene Luverne Reed; his father, Frank Ezekiel ‘Rudd’ Reed; his mother, Minnie Florence Lutheringer and step-son, Nathan Paul Labit.

Edward is survived by his children: Donald E. Reed of Lexington, SC; William C. Reed of Lockhart, AL; Walter K Reed of Panama City, FL; Merlyn L. Reed of Liberty, FL; Barbara J. Reed of Laurel Hill, FL and Edward A. Reed and wife Karin of Columbia, SC. His step-children: Tania L. Gee of Beaumont, TX; Cynthia M. Labit of Marianna, FL and Vincent P. Labit of Paxton, FL. and his 25 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Edward C. Reed will be Thursday, March 21, 2019 at Evans Funeral Home with John Lovelady officiating. Visitation with the family will be conducted at Evans Funeral Home in Florala, AL. from 12:00-1:00pm, General visitation will be 1:00-2:00pm.
