Edward’s Obituary Edward Joseph Piatek, age 66, of Kouts, passed away Saturday, February 2, 2019. He was born on July 25, 1952 in Michigan City to the late Hieronim and Olga Piatek. He attended Holy Family Catholic School and then Lew Wallace High School in Gary.

He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Silver Star for his service there. Edward retired as a Lieutenant from the Porter County Sheriff’s Department after 18 years and then served as Assistant Manager of Security at the Ports of Indiana.

In his free-time, he enjoyed collecting antique clocks. He is survived by his beloved wife, Julie (nee Peters) Piatek; sister, Barbara Tokarz of St. Charles, IL; brother, Richard Piatek of Douglasville, GA; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. Memorial contributions in Edward’s name may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
