Edward Troha, 66, of Leesburg, Virginia passed away on Sunday May 12, 2019. Ed was born in Washington, DC on April 21, 1953. He was a son of the late Charles and Eleanor Troha.

One of five children, Ed was predeceased by his brother, Tom. Surviving are his loving family, including his wife Pidge Troha of Leesburg, VA; son Dan, daughter-in-law Michelle, and granddaughter due this July of Charlotte, NC; and daughter Molly of Arlington, VA. He is also survived by his brother John Troha (Carol) and sisters, Charlotte Shields (Richard) and Teresa Thomas (Douglas).

Ed served his country in The United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own” as a percussionist and achieved self-proclaimed “rockstar status” during his time as a vocalist, drummer, and keyboardist in numerous bands. He spent much of his career as a marketing professional in the technology industry. Additionally, Ed enjoyed his time as a referee and umpire, officiating games at the collegiate and professional level.

In more recent years, Ed drove a school bus for Loudoun County Public Schools where he quickly became a favorite among his students. Ed founded and served as player-manager for the Loudoun Rangers men’s baseball team for over a decade. In his mid-fifties, he became an avid runner, cyclist, and triathlete; he competed successfully in many races, including several Half Ironmans and five Marine Corps Marathons.

In his running and cycling years, he developed many close friendships that he cherished deeply. Memorial services will begin on Friday, May 31, 2019 at 1:00pm, with a light reception immediately following the service at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Circle, SE, Leesburg, VA 20175. Interment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
