On April 24, 2018, Edward William Godfrey passed away peaceful at home at the age of 88. Born in New York, Ed lived in Odenton for 13 years and in Bowie previously to that. Ed proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy for 6 years and the Air Force for 4 years.

He worked as an accountant for the Veterans Administration and the Federal Aviation Administration before retiring. He was an active member of the Christian Community Presbyterian Church. A Red Cross blood donor, Ed had donated a total of 5 gallons of blood.

He was involved in the building of the Senior Center of Bowie and participated in the P.G. County Community Food Bank. He also volunteered with Meals On Wheels and volunteered teaching clinics on Smoking Cessation with the American Cancer Society. More than anything, Ed loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-children and attending their sporting events and other activities.

Devoted husband of 61 years to Gloria Godfrey (nee Cardenas); beloved father of Ed S. Godfrey (Lucinda) of Annapolis, Glenn A. Godfrey (Susan) of Virginia and Donna G. Nellis (Don) of Columbia; cherished grandfather of 10 and great-grandfather of 4. He was predeceased by his sister Patricia Bolaris. ** All service times are currently pending.
