Elaine Mary Ann DePaepe August 02, 1929 – May 01, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Elaine (Czajkowski) DePaepe, 89, daughter of the late Leon Czajkowski and Anna (Kasperski) born August 2, 1929, passed away on May 1, 2019, surrounded by her family. Elaine was a devoted wife of 66 years to the late Henry DePaepe, Jr She will be lovingly remembered by her children Timothy (Belle), Daniel, Ann Marie Frank and Christine (Kara Soderberg), her nine grandchildren, Kyle DePaepe; Margot and Rebecca DePaepe; Kendall, Jessica and Conrad Frank; Riley, Hudson and Blake DePaepe-Soderberg, her brother Roger (Marlene), niece Beth (Mickey), grandnephew Russell and grandniece Elizabeth.
She is predeceased by her sons, Scott and Michael (and daughter-in-law, Debra). Elaine’s devotion to her husband was unwavering through sickness and in health. Their favorite story was of how they met at the Aragon Ballroom and how he convinced her 2 months later to marry him.
Elaine was a loving mother and extremely proud of her 6 children (4 boys, then 2 girls). She was so smart, graduating at the very top of her high school class! She was a bookkeeper by trade and kept the books for both her daughters’ businesses during her retirement years, until she lost her sight to macular degeneration 12 years ago.
She will always be remembered for her gorgeous fingernails (thank you, Cari! ), 3-card/video poker, white Zinfandel on the rocks, Coca Cola, and her involvement and volunteer work within the Catholic Church. Elaine loved acting, singing and dancing.
She performed until 18 months ago. Elaine was hardworking, strong and kind. She listened more than she spoke and she always prayed for the health and happiness of others.
She was truly delighted when good things happened for others. But most important, she trusted and loved Jesus with her whole heart. Memorial gathering Friday, May 17th at G.L. Hills Funeral Home, 745 Graceland Avenue, Des Plaines, Illinois from 4:00 p.m until time of service at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be on Saturday, May 18th at St. Adalbert Catholic Cemetery 6800 N. Milwaukee Ave, Niles, IL.
Family and friends will meet at 12:45 p.m. near the cemetery gates. Graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m. A heart-felt thank you to all the nurses and staff at Rainbow Hospice for guiding us every step of the way. Your exceptional care, kindness and spot-on advice helped us through this journey.
