Eleanor Elizabeth (Griffin) Dippel, 94, of Gouldsboro died on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Linwood Nursing and Rehabilitation in Scranton. She was the widow of Carlton Louis Dippel, who died on September 14, 2015. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Helen (Smith) Griffin.

Eleanor graduated from Holy Rosary High School in North Scranton and prior to retiring, worked as a Floor Lady for Lady Manhattan Shirt Company in Scranton. Eleanor was proud of her Irish heritage but more importantly, she was most proud of her family and loved making memories with them or even just hearing about their latest accomplishments or travels.

Eleanor is survived by her daughter: Linda Frank and her husband Robert of Gouldsboro; her daughter in law: Theresa Dippel of Lake Ariel; grandson: Christian Frank and his wife Lisa of Plains; granddaughter: Stacy Dippel and her companion Jesse Swingle of Lake Ariel; great granddaughters: Kierra & Reilly Frank and Jenessa Swingle; great grandsons: Parker Burton and Skyler Swingle and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her son: Alan; her sisters: Margaret Lavin and Gerlinda Griffin, IHM and her brothers: Joseph, Charles and Gerald Griffin. The family would like to thank the staff at Linwood Nursing & Rehabilitation for their kindness and exceptional care given to their mother.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 19 at 10:30 am at St. Rita’s Church, 512 Main Street in Gouldsboro. Private cremation will follow in Strauch’s Pocono Crematory. A viewing will be held on Sunday, November 18 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Brian Arthur Strauch Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, LLC 3 First Street in Spring Brook Twp.
